OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

 What is Occupational Therapy (OT)

The Royal College of Occupational Therapists describes OT as the following:

“Occupational therapists (OTs) help children and young people take part in the daily activities (occupations) that are important to them,  at home, at school and elsewhere” .

Some children and young people find everyday activities difficult because of physical, learning, or mental health needs, or due to family circumstances and life changes. Occupational therapists help them take part in the daily routines and activities that give life purpose.  From self-care (dressing, eating, sleeping), to learning and schoolwork, to play, hobbies and sports.  We support children and young people to grow and thrive by recognising their strengths and challenges, understanding the factors that affect their participation, and finding new ways, skills, or adaptations so they can join in, have fun and achieve their potential.
